Certain parties had previously sought to remove papers and photographs from Esther Lederberg's archive, without attribution (to Dr. Esther Lederberg), falsely claiming these materials as their own. Given this situation, the estate representing Esther M. Zimmer Lederberg responded to the NLM, specifying the requirements that would have to be met for any archive of Esther Lederberg's work. The response is below. As the conditions for such an archive could not be satisfied by the NLM, the decision was made to not locate the archive with the NLM. No permission was ever granted to display or use any materials in any way.
